Thanks for the kind responses, folks. Prisoner ... just the kind of info I need. Coincidentally, one of the historic places I was considering was in Madison Heights at 1560 East 13 Mile Rd. Old farmhouse from around 1850 on 3/4 acre. But for now I'll continue to look at the places with some character in the GP area. Your advice about classmates was particularly appreciated and I will be sure to share this with my guys.
