What would the point of that be, to build more a bureaucracy at the state-level for education and to remove local control?

Teachers wouldn't like that in the sense they'd be applying for a job and could be deployed (like the military) anywhere in the state and not necessarily have as much choice in the district they teach and the area they live.

Bad idea.

I agree.

Besides, teachers are rarely the problem.

The only pro to teachers being hired at a state level would be to end the ridiculous amount of nepotism.

Integrating Detroit with the rest of the county would cause too much stir/opposition, even if it would work out in a perfect world.
