Atlanta has a middle-class professional black population that even Chicago and Philadelphia are low on. The black populations of Chicago and Philadelphia are stagnant. 92% of black men in Chicago are unemployed and there isn't much black prosperity in Philadelphia. Atlanta has black poverty but not to the extent of Chicago and Detroit. I know Atlanta is a younger city and didn't really face deindustrialization, corruption, and race riots like Detroit. What can Detroit, Baltimore, Cleveland, and other black cities do to become more like Atlanta?
Atlanta is pretty good for blacks. I think part of it has to do with the HBCU's they have there, being the center of black pop culture (rap and how many reality shows are in Atlanta now?), and nightlife which is great.

However, the opportunities used to be aplenty but now the economy in Atlanta is average at best. Tbh, most blacks in Atlanta aren't living like the rappers, the real housewives, Love and Hip Hop, ect. Blacks are fleeing the city of Atlanta and going to the suburbs. Look at the 2010 census, the Atlanta metro area grew by a neck breaking 24% in just 10 years. The city of Atlanta on the other hand grew by a measly little 0.8% why is that? Because 31,000 blacks moved out of Atlanta in that same 10 years. In that sense it's no different than Detroit, Chicago, or Philly because there are countless numbers of successful blacks in all 3 of these cities despite having large swath's of inner city ghetto's just like Atlanta. Atlanta is what those other 3 cities used to be. They all went through their glory days way before Atlanta's current boom.

Black neighborhoods are declining even in boom towns. The question is... how do we get blacks to stop running away from their problems and bringing their own problems to other neighborhoods? If blacks would come together and invest in our own communities, uplift our own people, ect than we would have prosperous communities and rich culture. Just imagine if all the successful blacks that lives in the suburbs actually lived in Detroit city. I would say the same about black owned businesses but we do a pretty good job on that tip Black-Owned Businesses Are Quietly Powering Detroit's Resurgence, But No One's Talking About It now just imagine if all there were more neighborhoods like Palmer Woods and Rosedale Park staying together and fighting for and getting involved in their communities like other minority communities. That is what needs to happen. Our past generations fought for equal rights, now it's time to take advantage of them.

Mayor Mike Duggan is trying to populate Detroit with Syrians. Apart from west Detroit neighborhoods near Dearborn, what other neighborhoods in Detroit (outside of Downtown and Midtown) can Syrians locate to? There's a proposal to get Syrians into Northtown but isn't it too dangerous and blighted?

He's trying to get Syrians to locate because bodies are better than no bodies. You can convince someone to move from the suburbs or anywhere to Midtown/Downtown/Palmer Woods etc. You'll never get someone from Novi to move to Westphalia south of 7 mile near Gratiot. The goal with the Syrians is that new bodies will do more to revive select areas that letting them return to their agrarian roots. The stark reality is if the areas of Detroit outside the main hubs have a household income of 25K - they WILL all turn to grass over the next 20 years because that's not enough $ to maintain a home.
