Hello all,

My job is sending me to the Detroit-Ann Arbor area to work on a project for a couple of months. This will be my first time in the state of Michigan. I was wondering if anybody could give me some ideas for things to do/see in Detroit while I am there. This can be during the weekends and the nightlife. Also, if you have any knowledge of things to do in Ann Arbor please feel free to add that also. Thanks all.

I like history, museums, some outdoors activity etc. Open to pretty much anything. Nightlife I would like a younger crowd maybe 25-35 hangout spots. I like bars and hookah spots etc.

Despite being in your 25-35 age range, I can't make any nightlife recommendations. There is a lot to do, it has just never been my thing.

Detroit, A2, and many other nearby places have plenty of things to do. Between Metro Detroit and Metro Ann Arbor, there are dozens (if not a hundred or more) of museums and art galleries. Detroit is a great city for sports. I'd highly recommend going to at least one Tigers game. If you are still around in the fall, try to see a U of M game at The Big House.
If you venture a little farther, there are tons of interesting places to see and visit. For example, Frankenmuth is a Bavarian town with great food and lots to see. They have their own Oktoberfest in September.

Some random things that popped into my head, with links:

Woodward Dream Cruise - Mid-August, well over a million people generally go

Henry Ford Museum/Greenfield Village

Motown Museum

DTE - Major outdoor concert venue

Thanks Jaynarie & Republic of Michigan. I am going to try to check out everything you all listed. I was definitely planning on checking out a Tigers game and UofM game (if I can get a ticket).

What are some good places to eat that are unique to the area?

You could go to the Eastern Market and get lunch from a food truck there, don't know about many actual restaurants there since I don't live in the area but I've had some great meals in downtown Detroit.

My favorite place in Detroit is Green Dot Stables. Doesn't hurt that it's walking distance from my house.
