Finally! this is great news. And Gilbert is a doer so this is one of the biggest developments since probably the Broderick tower. I'm hoping that these become condos/apartments. Also, if I'm not mistaking that was the last vacant skyscraper in Detroit.

Such great news! I can't wait to see the finished product once all the grime is cleaned away.

Well I'm very excited by this news, I've been waiting for the book tower to see positive development for so many years. I'm even going to put my Dan Gilbert cynicism aside for this one

Now I think there is just the United Artist Building and the Free Press building left. Downtown Detroit is back!! Hopefully, the next efforts will be put in place to clean out the entire area between Downtown and Grosse Pointe.

The David Stott Building is vacant now.

Gilbert's plan longterm is to rearrange the city dramatically, to relocate government offices to far-flung neighborhoods and make the downtown area a major residential center. It's an interesting strategy.

And while there are fewer vacant skyscrapers, there are a number of office buildings still vacant like the small building facing Woodward near the Guardian Building, the old Wayne County building, etc. And those skyscrapers not owned by Gilbert are still underoccupied, but that is a common problem tbh.

I forgot about that one. Is it completely vacant? is it the only vacant skyscraper left?

On another note, I never realized how much of Woodward Gilbert owns.

But Gilbert owns it, too, so you know it won't stay vacant for too long. I know it has a lot of damage to repair.
