I took a Google street view ride up Broadstreet Ave. It certainly looks a lot nicer on the north end near Livernois than it does on the south end.

Broadstreet between Cortland and Davison Avenue is in the Russell Woods Historical District, an elegant neighborhood of 1920s and 1930s Tudors and Colonials. The Supremes moved to the neighborhood from the Brewster projects after they went big in the mid-60s.

Kwame Kilpatrick lived in the neighborhood his 1st year in office when the Mayor's Mansion was being renovated in 2001-2. The current season of This Old House is about the restoration of a home in the neighborhood.

Broadstreet south of Cortland is a very rundown street
