What do you guys think are the worst highways in Metro Detroit? My vote goes to a tie between I-75 in the Troy area and I-94 between telegraph and I-75.

I look at Highways and freeways as different things. Highways to me are Michigan Avenue, Dix-Toledo/Dixie Highway etc.

For highwways I would say Michigan Ave in Detroit (if it counts as a highway).

Freeways, probably the 10 inside City limits.

Worst Congestion:
- NB I-75 between I-94 in Detroit & 14 Mile Rd in Troy during afternoon rush
- WB I-696 from US-24/Telegraph to I-96/Novi Rd. during afternoon rush

Worst Condition:
- I-94 through the City of Detroit. From Michigan Ave US-12 to I-696

Actually, I had to stop and think a bit on this one as overall the condition of most of the major freeways in Metro Detroit has dramatically improved in the past 5-10 years, and those that aren't that great are mostly scheduled for repair/reconstruction.
I-75 from 8 Mile to M-59 is not great condition wise but is in year 2 of a 20 year rebuild.
I think I-94 through the City of Detroit is the worst condition highway of all, but parts are eventually going to get rebuilt/reconstruction.

The worst offenders for poor road conditions are actually the roads at the county or city-level. I think Oakland County has some of the most poorly maintained roads in thes state with roads that are functionally and physically obsolete..

My criterion for judging worst highways is damage to existing neighborhoods. That is mostly before I was born, but I have a read a bit about I-75 wrecking the Hamtramck/Highland Park area and depopulating the whole city of Detroit.

I-375 and lower I-75 was the worst at neighborhood destruction and false-pretenses of urban renewal.

I-94 is the most raggedy freeway in the city to me. All of the other freeways at least seem somewhat updated. And what makes it so bad is that's the freeway many people from out of town use other than I-75 (which is the second worst).

Today, it was I-75 from downriver to livernois.

My 37 minute commute turned into 3 hours.
