Renovation of WOODWARD GRAND BUILDING - – January 27th, 2017

Woodward and Grand Building will be HQ of the Ralph C. Wilson Foundation .The Ralph C. Wilson Foundation is tasked with distributing to worthy causes $1.2 BILLION of the fortune of the late Detroit-area businessman and Buffalo Bills creator-owner, Ralph Wilson.

The structure will also house a new restaurant (Wilda’s as previously highlighted) as well as 10 units of housing of which 30% will be leased at affordable rates for lower-income renters. Mosey's group also plans renovations nearby at storefronts it plans to turn into retail outlets for artists, entrepreneurs and others

Henry Ford Health System Breaks Ground on $155 million CANCER FACILITY – June 3rd, 2017

The six-story, 187,000-square-foot Brigitte Harris Cancer Pavilion will offer ambulatory cancer treatment, precision medicine, clinical trials and support services for cancer patients.

The Brigitte Harris Cancer Pavilion is part of a 300-acre expansion and neighborhood redevelopment initiative that will include retail, housing, and other mixed uses. The new facility will be connected via skywalk to Henry Ford Hospital

Fisher Building launches pop up and food truck series

Feast at The Fisher, a Monday through Thursday pop up series that's held across from the theater. On Fridays, Fridays at the Fisher, which features local food trucks, Pot+Box’s flower truck, and the Eastern Market food stand is held outside the building on West Grand Boulevard.

Among the participants so far are Sweet Potato Sensation, Maccabees Trader, Impasto, Plaza Deli, The Spot falafel, Detroit Juice and Fuel, Paradise Natural Foods, Guerrilla Food, Susan's Tarts, and more.

Thanks for posting this. New Center now is sort of like how downtown was some years back. I think the Q Line is going to be a game changer in New Center and the north end.

POT + BOX

Pot & Box is a full-service florist with studios in Detroit and Ann Arbor, providing floral design for weddings and corporate events, horticultural decor including green walls for home, commercial, and restaurants, a mobile flower truck as a pop-up flower shop, lectures and workshops about floral design and flower house.

PLUM MARKET AND ZINGERMAN'S TO TEAM UP AT PISTON'S PRACTICE FACILITY

-Michigan-based grocery store chain Plum Market plans to open a 5,000-square-foot grocery store and café available to the public inside the Henry Ford Pistons Performance Center

-Plum Market's newest location would include a coffee shop featuring Zingerman's products and coffee, a casual dining space with both indoor and outdoor seating and a grab-and-go marketplace open to the public.

MEDITERRANEAN RESTAURANT IN NEW CENTER

-Selden Standard team to open upscale Mediterranean restaurant in New Center

-Will locate in former Payless Shoesource on Woodward at Grand Boulevard

-Won't open until 2019

-Menu will be a mixture of influences from French, Italian, Spanish, the Middle East, Greece and Morocco

-the building was originally constructed as a theater in the late 1920 (whose front was chopped off when Woodward Avenue was widened in the 1930's)

-$30 million new construction condo development - 6 floors and 53 units

-A high-end development - Expect a rooftop deck with a swimming pool and a club house, a common garden, a bike storage room, big windows with skyline views, two-story penthouses, and a 24-hour concierge in the lobby. Price per square foot is around $430.

-Exterior will be brick, which is a departure from the recent new residential construction in the trendy neighborhoods.

-This development is by the Platform, who is also building another new construction mixed-use building at Third Street and West Grand Boulevard, also in the New Center

-Redevelopment of the 1956-built WJBK TV Building

-This will include 145 new apartments, 10,000 square feet of retail, and 87 underground parking spaces to the neighborhood

-2 more stories will be added to the existing 2-story building, while an 8-story addition will be built behind the original building. The developers hope to break ground in late 2018.Construction will take 18 months to complete.

Ferne Boutique

-a casual women's clothing store in Bay City, is opening a second location around May at 6529 Woodward Ave., owner Laura Horwath said.

-Horwath said Midtown Detroit has aimed to create a balance as it chooses businesses to fill the section of Woodward at the end of the QLine streetcar route.

Are they making it more walk able? wherever I struggled with new Center in the past is if you walk form place to place, you spend too much of your time walking past huge parking lots. They really need to condense the parking and fill in the paking areas if it is ever going to be a third "center" for the city. Maybe they have, I really never have a reason to go to new center, so I have not been there in more than a year.
