If you are not watching them, try to be out of the city before 4 p.m. Sometimes you need to get out before 3. It can take 2 hours just to get to the city limits if you wait.

If you have not seen them and have the opportunity I highly recommend it. It is a huge and very well done show. Being in a crowd of a million or nearly a million people is both exciting and intimidating, but it certainly a memorable experience.

Thank you for the warning. I have to pass through, so I’ll give wide berth. I went a couple times as a kid. Never been more scared in my life. Never knew people could act so wild. One time our car window was broken when we returned, along with all the other cars parked along the road.

You knew this guy was going to have something negative to say. When you have hundreds of thousands of people gather, I guess that can happen, but by and large this a great family friendly event. Hopefully it will go without a hitch today, I will be there.

The Ren Cen was deserted today. I left the office around 5:30 and there was no one around. They make a big deal about the traffic but people really don't start coming downtown until much later.

That said if everyone came in like it was a normal workday it would get messy downtown. However, in the summer particularly, most people leave the Ren Cen between 4-5:30pm. Leaving at 6pm like I usually do is well on the late side of the exodus.

How was it? I was going to ride my bicycle over to the side of the island where we can watch the fireworks, but i fell asleep. We went every year for a while, then every other year, now it seems more hassle than fun. Mostly I think because the kids are older and do not want to come down with their friends. There are two big shows. Tie fireworks show and the people show. Both are spectacular. Yes with that many people in one place at once, a certain percentage are going to be wolves and you are going to have some problems. However in recent years the excessive police enforcement seems to be a bigger deterrent to attending than the crime issue. Three years ago, I crossed Jefferson at a location other than where they were directing people and three police officers stormed out and grabbed me ad pushed me back to the designated crossing location. The way they charged at me, I thought they were going to tackle me in the middle of the street.

The fireworks we're phenomenal. The traffic gridlock was substantial. A ton of people having a good time. I was at the downtown WCCC. I didn't see any problems, but I didn't stick around after the display, I rode my bike away from there.
