Greetings,

I'm curious to know about the safety of the areas in which these places are located.

I will be staying at the Motor City Casino for a night in June. My understanding is the the Jeffries Projects lie both to the East and North of this hotel. Anything else I should be careful of?

I will be going to an evening concert at the Joe Louis Arena during a weeknight. It will finish at about 11pm. My bus back to Toronto leaves the Greyhound bus depot on 1001 Howard St. at 12:15am. Will it be safe for me to walk from the Joe Louis Arena to the bus depot and wait inside the bus depot at this time of night?

Please advise.

Default Bus Stop

That area isn't the best or the worst. You should be fine, just mind your business and keep to yourself. I would not suggest walking from JLA to the bus stop late at night though, that just wouldn't be wise. Be aware of your surroundings and be smart and you will be ok.

You should be good at the bus station. Not far from the Joe. You should be fine to walk those few blocks.

To the north the Jeffries Projects were redeveloped as a senior and mix-income area. Most of the buildings were razed in the process.

To the East from Temple St across the lodge freeway (10) is the south Cass Corridor. Not the nicest area in my opinion for taking a leisurely nighttime stroll.

Cabs in Detroit are fairly cheap. Use them.
