Did anyone haunting this forum lose a drag race on Woodward or Telegraph to The Black Ghost in 1970?

I spent the last 2 weeks visiting family in Michigan. Went down to Auburn, IN to the Auburn Auto Museum and the National Auto & Truck Museum. At the latter I picked up an issue of Hagerty Drivers Club for $1 for a cover story about Evel Knievel. Figured it would make for good reading material on the flight back to Phoenix. Also featured in the issue was a story about The Black Ghost, a mysterious Dodge Challenger that would pop up randomly on the streets of Detroit and demolish the drag competition. No one knew who the driver was. The car was said to have been a legend among the muscle car and drag racing community of that era. Article goes into the story of the car, the owner, his son and the roundabout way the drivers identity was discovered. The article was fantastic. I found this great documentary released by Hagerty (over 5 million views). Recommended viewing. A great Detroit story.

I had a 70 Challenger, with a 340 in it, it was white, looked like the one on the movie Vanishing Point back in 1971. Nice car.

Being in college back then and having a 69 Barracuda I heard of it, but never seen it and I ran Woodward Ave quite a bit from Totem pole to Ted's at Square Lake. But I was more interested in girls than racing. In high school prior to '66 hit woodward a few time with older classmates.
