From what I understand, the Penobscot Building had an observation deck open to the public on the 47th floor rooftop from 1928 until the 1960's. The observation deck was open as part of guided tours conducted by organizations like Preservation Wayne until 2005. I also found that in sourced from 1941 and 1949, the observation deck was open daily from 9 am to 5 pm and tickets were 25 cents. There was talk about reopening the observation deck in 2015, but that did not happen. So, does anyone here know exactly what year the observation deck of the Penobscot Building was closed to general public visitors, considering it was sometime in the 1960's.
