Hi I'm following up on some Detroit History for my Genealogy book, and I have a question for all the Detroit native seniors out there.
My father used to tell me about a Detroit Bar/nightclub, and it was call Jimmy Deeks, or Deaks, I'm not sure of the spelling.
I'm going to assume this bar was around during the late 40s and fifties, maybe even the sixties.
Has anyone heard of this bar? and if so could you please e-mail me and tell me it's exact location, and what happened to it? Thank You.

My father (deceased in 2009) grew up in Southwest Detroit. They lived on Lane near Springwells and later moved a block over to Logan. There was a bar that he talked about my grandfather (his father) going to. It was called Jimmy Deeg's and was on the corner of Logan and Mullane. Last time I drove down memory lane it was burned down. There was another bar that my Papa Joe frequented on the corner of Logan and Springwells. The name was Wilkie's. My dad was born in 1923 and my momories were from about 1952-1960. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Default Jimmy Deegs

Never knew how it was properly pronounced, and my Mother forgot about the bars location, she grew up on Chamberlain Street, and my Dad was born and raised on Rathbone.
I'm sorry to hear of your Fathers death, I would have asked if he heard of Joe Yorks bar as well.........Thank You for the data Cheers!!
