Default Yes

It's toast. I'm stuck here for now like many others. Some say the foundation is still there but I can't see it. Some say 10 years. Well is that when they're going to start? Look at all those homes that were built and given to low income people. In a few short years they are vacant and torn up. The whole country is in a recession if not depression. Just who is going to put all this money into Detoilet?

If it were dead people wouldn't still be talking about it. And if there's one thing I've learned on these boards, it's that people LOVE to talk about it...despite the fact they often claim to hate it so badly. And that is what I just don't understand.

actually, downtown Detroit is a pretty thriving area that is being built up recently. It is much of the rest of the city that gives it a bad rep. Plus southeast MI has dozens of very nice, safe, highly regarded suburbs. Id say totally give it a shot if youre looking to move here- just make sure you have a job lined up first!

Well its a matter of opionion , first is i think everything has centered around the auto industry i am about to be laid off, and i own a home in the bagely district however, i think there is so much corruption in are city that in order to thrive we have to start from the bottom and build ourselves up, no i dont think this is the thriving city it once was but for most of us that call this place out home we have to remain positive, don't move here unless you have a job lined up but, on the flip side with all the foreclosure you can buy a nice home in a nice area for nothing (that is the only good thing ).

Perhaps the very wealthy should start investing more into the city to help repair it. Doing nothing prolongs the inevitable: crime sprawling towards your nice, clean and safe neighborhood.
