I'm trying to find out the "real" info from the horses' mouth so to speak. I am a union member as well (not UAW, ALPA) and I am accustomed to management and the public twisting our pay structure out of context when they don't understand how we are compensated.

So I keep hearing about UAW workers making $70+/hr and wonder if that is true or not. What is the starting pay for a UAW worker? How about 10 years in? I'm just talking W2 pay rates not including benefits (ie what you see in your paycheck).

Doing a bit of research for another forum I visit

thanks

FWIW I'm pro-autobailout and was anti-banks-that-screwed-us-but-made-billions-in-profits-bailout

production workers make about 25-26 pr hr. in wage+ fringes skilled trades make about 3+ dollars an hour more.new 07 contract has new hires starting at 14.00 thats why they offered so many buyouts ,trying to get rid of high payed workers.eventually the scales will tip and the auto companies will be making a killing on these cars if the economy turns around. The UAW contract is on line for your viewing, just google it. skilled trade is 8 yr.apprenticable jobs, pipefitter, die maker ,electrician, ect.

That $70+ an hour figure is derived from the total wages paid to current workers plus the amount of money paid to retired workers plus all the benefits paid to current and retired workers, divided by the number of current workers.

That figure is BS used by the auto industry to get wages down and blame the workers for all their ills.

Default Skilled trade is not experience,

Skilled trade is an electrician or toll and die, or welder
etc.
