3. So Northville, Brighton, Milford, and South Lyon are farming commuities. If you had been to any of them in the last 20 years, you woudl know how silly this statement makes you sound.

4. Yes. All of these cities are part of Metro Detroit. Lots of people live there and work downtown. Prople from those areas see Detroit as their City. They go to Detroit for theater, sporting events, museum, music, dining and business. Distance does not determine whether or not a place is a suburb, it is the connection and relationship to the place.

Hey, you forgot grosse Ile altogetehr and that is perhaps the nicest of all the suburbs. Of course you cna just dismiss it with a meaningless "Puhhleeese!" along with other communities that you know nothing about.

"Farming communities" . Thank oyu. Now I have my evening snicker.
Learn to read. I said Chelsea, Tecumseh and Saline are not a Metro Detroit suburbs. Neither is Brighton.

I also said "farming communities 60 miles away don't quallfy as a Metro Detroit Suburb"...

After you are finished laughing, I suggest a reading comprehension course.

"Distance does not determine whether a place is a suburb or not" is one of the dumbest comments I have read in a long time.

There, Roscommon is a Detroit Suburb.

Geez.

I was 14 when we moved to a nice community with an excellent school system. My brother and I were so far behind the rest of our new peers; we had to work incredibly hard just to catch up. In Wayne, I was at the very top of my class but when we moved, I ended up at the bottom of my new class. The Wayne-Westland school system is so terrible, I can't believe kids make it to college. Of course, the school I ended up graduating from had a much higher graduation rate (only two kids in my class did not graduate) and over 90% of my class went on to college. My mom worked for the WW school system and she was the one who said that they needed to get us out of there and into good schools so we could have a better chance at college. My mom always fought for bettering the WW school system. She always voted positively in local elections in order to keep sports, get new books, etc but it just never made a difference in Wayne. My parents were pleasantly surprised when they moved us to a community that was all about educating the kids. In the new school, we always had new textbooks, new uniforms, a wide range of different courses to take and entire city was behind the students. I still have some relatives in Wayne and I can attest that it's even worse now. What a shame. It was a nice place when I was a little kid.
Well now the whole metro detroit got ghetto and the few dont matter.Good luck buying homes as there is no living wages around.

Classic. Who doesn't know what they are taking about?

Troy is a pit. Walled Lake? Please. Novi has seen better days. Chelsea and Saline and Tecumseh etc. aren't a Detroit suburb. Look at friggin' map. Trenton? Please. Brighton a suburb? Is this a joke? Wyandotte? C'mon.

Birmingham, BH, some parts of Farmington Hills, Berkeley/Franklin Hills/Pleasant Ridge, Orchard Lake and Grosse Point are on the short list. Farming communities 60 miles away don't qualify,,,and it's telling you had to go out that far to find any decent comparisons.

I didn't say ALL the suburbs are pits. I said that compared to cities of size, Detroit has fewer of them, in the bottom third of the country. The roads are worn, the shops look old and tired, and there is zero attempt at any sort of community revitalization.
The truth that hurts some liars around here!!
Good post!

I have been in Wayne , for 45 years it was great the first twenty years . Then half way houses pop up , I hear now there is about 35 of them now...could be wrong you need to check. My house has gone down in value, that sucks that's all we got. I live by rec. center lost my black and blue drone two weeks ago it can only go 394feet. I've ask put up sign. Twenty years ago if you lost something like that you would got it back ..then they would ask how it works..Now I hear car radios in my house with storm windows down , my own home stereo , and they shake my windows and dishes...there is a law against playing it that loud , but the police choose not to do anything about it...maybe we need to bring in the state...to find out the police makes the choose on there own. Not to do what laws that were passed in this city....we pay taxes let's help us for a change and mess with the bad guys I don't care what race, religion, or anything else. To old to care about stupid stuff like that...we all fall under the laws of this country, state ,county, and our city....get yourself together

I live in Wayne, 4 years now. I find it very safe, great schools, nice diverse people. Working with the city for permits, building codes and city services is top notch.
