Boston_Edison...the one time jewel of Detroit. I think the houses there represent the best of the Detroit that once was...isn't it north of new center and Virginia park?

Should you decide to move into the Boston Edison area, it may be worth noting there are two different zip codes. I mention this only b/c insurance is exorbenant and one zip may be a bit more affordable than the other.

I'm sure you've already foudn that Boston-Edison is north of New Center, west of Grand.

Cass Corridor is near Wayne State and can I give a plug to the Cass Cafe right now? I was thisclose to having our wedding reception there!

You have to watch out for taxes and insurance premiums in Detroit, both are unusually high. Services can be terrible. Police response, trash removal and snow removal can be spotty. However you can get some awesome houses in these neighborhoods for very low prices. You probably need to go outside the city for most of your shopping needs, but you can get great produce at Eastern Market. Detroit schools are mostly terrible with a few exceptions (Renaissance High is one of the best in the state). Make sure you do your homework and go in with both eyes open, ut it could be a great place and a great time ot buy a hisotic house or mansion. However it is not for everyone, we considered it but decided that it would nto be good for the kids. We already did the inner city pioneer thing and decided to find someonwhere nice and quiet where they can play in the woods.
