Just wanted to ask, whatever happened to the Bob Lo Boat? I remember riding it as a kid, going to BobLo Island was always a highlight of summer!

I understood during the 80's there was a riot on board the boat, now the boats are in dry dock, island is deserted?

So, what's the real story?

One of the vessels is being restored and the other is operating out of Toledo the last I had heard. Both were docked and rotting for quite a while so I'm glad that someone is finally making use of them.

I don't think the island is deserted... I think that there are high end condos and houses on the island. The amusement park has been gone for well over 10 years.

I believe the Columbia was purchased and supposedly restored or in the process of being restored as a people shuttle/cab in New York City harbor . I met the owner of the Ste. Clair in 2005 at a Detroit Memories Reunion in 2005 , she took ownership of the boat as part of a divorce settlement , not sure when her ex bought it , but she has since sold the Ste. Clair and it currently being restored . Here's some info :

Default Looking for a River Cruise?

Our local school takes all the 8th Grade Students on a year end Bon Voyage trip aboard one of Diamond Jack's boats as a symbolic gesture towards entering High School.

I thought Diamond Jack bought some of the Bob-Lo boats for their river cruises, but after reading their web site I learned the boats are all old ferries from the Arnold Line serving Mackinaw Island. Still a very nice excursion if you are nostalgic for a trip on the Detroit River.

One of the Bob-Lo boats were supposed to be restored, last I heard, but that was back in 2007. So I'm really not sure what has happend to it.
