If the OP keeps at it, yes, they will be paid. With interest.

From the judgment in MI you can garnish wages, bank accts, & TAXES which if she has children she will get probably more than the $600 back in what she owes you! If you can get the judgment & let the 21 days pass by Nov 1st, go to your courthouse & ask for state garnishment papers. You will have to pay the state I think it is $6 & a filing fee of $15 is all to do this. The only bad thing I can warn you on is if there is someone else who already has a garnishment on her you may have to wait in line.

Also if after the 21 days has passed & you subpoena her into court & she fails to pay, the judge will put out a bench warrant on her. Normally the judge will put the bail amount to be what she owes you. For example if she owes you $600, the judge would say bail is $6000 because the person would have to pay 10% which would be $600.

Good luck!

I believe that in MI unpaid water (and sewer) bills are added to the property owners taxes. This is why many rentals include water in the amount they charge. Other utilities are in the tenants name and therefore any unpaid amounts follow them long after they leave the rental.

It depends where you are. There are many different ways this can go.

Sounds like it will be more hassle than it's worth. When renters feel squeezed they will hide assets and the cash will be kept in the First National Bank of 36D. Garnishment laws do little unless they have a steady job or something of value that can be attached.

That is because it is not your money. I would pursue it.
