It is a blast, but the lines are long and it can be cold. Dress warmly and bring some patience.

Do you know what the parking situation is? That is the main thing that has kept me/us from attending anything in downtown Detroit, to be honest. I love to walk, but not through the downtown of a large city after dark, if we decided to stay into the evening. It's not because it's Detroit, I just don't feel comfortable walking around any really large city's downtown after dark.

I am not sure about parkling. I park at the Ren Cen and take the people mover. However it is free for me to park there. I do see lots of lots around with signs for $5 parking, but I have no idea whether they get full or not. If there is one thing that Detroit has plenty of, it is empty lots. I cannot imagine how parking could be a problem, but who knows?

Personally I do not have a problem walking around Detroit in the evenings. It is usually completely empty. Spooky, but not real threatening. If I am alone, I usually talk on my cell phone while I am walking. That way you are not alone in a sense. Any bad guys who can think will probably leave you alone becuase the person on the other end of the phone can call the police. During events, you are usually walking in a crowd, even at night. It does not bother me to walk in a crowd either, only at night when there are occaisional people around do I get uncomfortable. No people at all, or tons of people leave me feeling reasonably safe.

Campus Martius is very safe.

I seriously doubt that parking will be an issue at the event.
