Brighton has very good schools.
Brighton Township has the lowest property tax in SE Michigan.
Property values in Brighton are actually rebounding.
Brighton is the mid point between Detroit, Ann Arbor, Flint and Lansing.
I don't live in Brighton, but if I was planning to move, it would be to Brighton Township.

Does Brighton Township extend to the West Side of Kensington Metropark? That would be a great area to live. Anywhere that you can walk, bike, or gallop into kensington would be wonderful.

I am not a doom and gloomer, but all reports indicate that the next round of foreclosures will be worse than the one that we just went through. Do not be misled by a slight upturn in a given area. If there is still an upturn by the middle of 2011, then I might rely on it, but not right now.

However my philospohy is that you buy a house to have a home, not as an investment. That is why it does nto bother me excessively much that I lost two years salary (pre tax) on our house. It is our home so it is worth what we put into it, even if it is not worth that much to anyone else.

But do not buy a home thnking that you can readily sell it and move if you decide you like some other area better. Sales are nearly flat. Better to wait. Prices are not going to go up significantly any time in the immediate future. There are too many foreclosures on the market, and more to come.

Like the G.M. Proving Grounds, Kensington Metro Park Straddles the County line and sits in both Milford and Brighton Townships.

You're absolutely right.
My point is that with most of SE Michigan still seeing declining home values (that decline is slowing, giving a bit of a breather) in Brighton Township, value decline leveled about a year ago, and actually shows increases over the past six months. This is a temporary situation, I'm sure, and as you point out, there's more gloom to come. But, If I was looking for a place to buy, I'd want to be somewhere that has a better prognosis than the rest of the state.

- Livonia (38 minutes, upper middle class, good schools, very suburban)
- Berkley (39 minutes, lower-mid/mid class, urban downtown, good access to Woodward Ave.)
- Hazel Park (41 minutes, suits all middle class [upper/lower], small-townish, on the corner of all 3 major counties, good access to I-75/I-696/M-102)
- Warren (43-48 minutes, suits all middle class [upper/lower], very suburban and spread out, low crime)
- Troy (52 minutes, suits all middle class [upper/lower], very suburban and affluent, many large houses and wooded areas)
I have lived in MI my whole life (30+ years) and I WOULD NOT live in Warren or Hazel Park, Berkley is nothing worth driving too.

Depending on what type of medical complications your child has you will have access to U of M MOTT, DMC Childrens, and Beaumont for care. We have a child with multiple health problems and we see specialist and each. If you would like any direction on a specialist let me know we see almost one of each (gastro, cardiology, nephr, nuero, pulmo/allergy, ).

BTW after being here our whole lifes we are actually getting ready to relocate to the ATL.
