I'm really looking forward to seeing the air races next month. However, because the riverwalk is so long, is it really necessary to buy tickets? Couldn't you just set up a folding chair somewhere on the riverwalk and watch for free?

I imagine that you could get close enough to watch them. We watch it from our office. I have never seen the race, but have seen several of the trial runs, or whatever they are called. It is really neat to watch.

I think that you need tickets to get to the stands wher ethey have an announcer telling you what is going on as well as other entertainment. If you are interested int he race, you might need tickets. If you just want to see airplanes doing cool stuff, then you can probably get close enough for free. To see aiprlane doing cool things, the time trials sure provides a lot of that to watch. You may not need to buck the crowds during the actual race.
