You do need to know what your blood sugar is doing related to meals, too.
I've used lancets 2-3 times, then change them. I would think they would get dull, and contaminated, despite cleaning.

Like I said, I've been testing many times/day. I'm finding patterns I wouldn't catch otherwise. Just to test 1x/day doesn't really give one much useful data. I was surprised to find that when I was hungry, my BG was high! One would think it was low when hungry. My doctor said its important not to get hungry, so, never skip meals and eat frequent snacks. I've been snacking on--raw almonds, or HC egg, with plenty of water. Sometimes, I have string cheese, or cubed cheese.

As my BG stabilizes, I'm finding I have more energy, am more mentally focused, and less prone to depression. Of course, a counselor-type would say its just a placebo effect Whatever......

I don't see how the diet changes I'm making could hurt anything!

I have Medicare and Medigap -- but it's cheaper to use the Walgreen's Card for my glucose testing materials. Three months' worth of Freestyle Lite lancets and strips (300 each) costs only $34.00 total with the Walgreen's Card.

Good to know!

I've priced Walmart, their own brand, I think Relion, is also pretty cheap.

a one month supply of Avia one touch strips is $35 with my insurance! for that its worth it to buy another meter coded to the cheap strips!

I like the Freestyle Lite -- no coding and so easy that even a dummy like I can use it. And no pricking the finger (ouch) -- I can prick my arm, which doesnt hurt at all.
