Thanks for your replies.

As we start IF, I find a piece says "feeling hungry is normal".

Another piece says feeling hungry is a symptom for low sugar level. Which one is correct ?

IF blog says:

Quote:
As for having coffee or tea during your fast — you should be just fine. As a general rule of thumb, if you drink something with less than 50 calories, then your body will remain in the fasted state.
Will cup of milk, fruit slice etc qualify for less than 50 calories intake?

How does small intake with in fasting window impact IF protocol?

Thanks for your guidance.

We can't tell you that, only your glucometer can.

Test your blood sugar to see if it's low. Seriously, no matter what anyone here says, absolutely no one here knows what your blood sugar level is--get a glucometer and test your blood sugar.

Once you adapt to eating less often, cravings should disappear. It's the opposite of what one would think.

Eating low carb also reduces or eliminates cravings. IF and LC go hand in hand.

The symptoms of low blood sugar don't include hunger. I seriously doubt you will go low without meds or insulin. Food raises blood sugar, meds or insulin lower it.

The 50 calorie thing is debatable but in any case, anything you consume should not provoke an insulin response or in other words, raise your blood sugar. Milk and fruit would certainly do that.

Of course, as has been stated the only way to know any of this is to use a meter. There is no way around it. Anything else would be guessing.

It sounds to me like you don't want to fast. Either do it or don't. I don't get the endless questions. Try it for a week and see how you feel. By the way, the intermittent fasting will not necessarily improve your blood glucose numbers. It does lower insulin and insulin resistance. So it will help with the cause, not the symptoms of diabetes.

This.

g.

Both can be correct but at different times in the course.

In the classic case, people with genes for T2 DM produce excess insulin when they're young and are prone to hypoglycemia. Thru the yrs, they become resistant to all that insulin and eventually show their diabetes (hi BS).

If they continue along with no treatment, poor treatment or even sometimes with good treatment, the beta cells eventually poop out from over work, so to speak. That's when T2 insulin independent DM becomes T2 insulin dependent DM.

The cornerstone of diabetic (T2) treatment is calorie, particularly carb, restriction. A fast is the ultimate in diet restriction. It can be dangerous if you're on meds that work by increasing insulin secretion (and obviously if you're on insulin itself) or if you're in an early stage where hypoglycemia is still a problem.

A treatment plan that includes prolonged periods of fasting seems drastic and just a trick to get the patient to eat less (and to sell books).
