It's called stop eating modern wheat, that is a large majority of what's wrong with everything- it increases prevalence of type II diabetes, causes inflammation, water retention- weight gain, brain fog, etc. You stop eating modern wheat found in most processed foods, frozen foods, and fast foods and I will guarantee you will have next to no weight issues.
I'm kinda fascinated about this... and it's not the 1st time I've heard it. Well about wheat in general.
The problem is that "bread" is so ingrained in our diets. It's one of the few things in my life that would be difficult to give up.
The only upside for me is that I workout regularly and tend to eat mostly whole foods. So I'm guessing I'm skating by the diabetes risk. BTW my dad is diabetic, so maybe I am / will be too? (My mom isn't though)
I agree about sugar and a ton of ultra - processes junk that we all eat. Limit those as much as possible and eat more veg and fruits.

Most forms of wheat spike blood sugar higher than table sugar itself.
Ought to tell you something. Not to mention all of the other negative aspects of it. GMO concerns come to mind.
Wheat is not considered a GMO crop but it should be. Seeds are not GMO but it is sprayed with Glyphosate (Roundup) before harvest to encourage ripening and to dry it out faster.
I'm not surprised. Kids eat way too much junk & processed food these days & there are younger fatter kids these days too. Parents either don't care &/or too busy to make wholesome meals anymore for the family, so everyone fends for themselves & jsut eats what's quick & easy.

children shun traditional home cooking, they prefer to eat pizza, burritos and wash them down with soft drink.
And they are not that active.
Part of it could be the growth hormone used in the feeds for chicken, pig, cow and even veggies?
I dont think all the adult men and women eat too much,it is what they eat.
400 LBS men is not a typo and middle age women has no waist line?
Women used to wear girdle, now they just walk around with protruding stomach?

?
"Growth Hormone" used in raising beef cattle is actually estrogen, and there is more natural estrogen in a serving of mashed potatoes than in a serving of commercial beef. It's not used in any other food production. It's not a problem.
Re- desserts-- Is there a difference between a "dessert" and a piece of fruit- which is essentially all glucose, fructose &/or sucrose anyway?
There may be some physiological wisdom in finishing a meal with a sugary serving-- A major difference between diabetics and non-diabetics is that the non-diabetic starts to squirt out a little insulin right at the beginning of the meal, while the diabetic doesn't. (It has to do with incretins.) The diabetic is always "playng catch up" with insulin chasing his rising BSs as the meal is absorbed over several hours....A sugary dessert may get more sugar into the circulation faster and encourage a more vigorous and effective insulin response.
The point soo many posters are making above is correct-- We're eating more calories and burniing them less than we did prior to ~1970.... Look into the changes in govt ag policies coupled with improved ag tech and new food processing tech an the changes in our modes of travel & recreation that occurred coincidently around then. The perfect storm.
