my fiance has type 2 diabetes and in the past few weeks is complaining about a strange pain in his side. He works full time at the hospital as an outpatient clerk so has good access to the hospital's services and whatnot..anyway he went to the emergency room not too long ago complaining of pain, they said it was not his kidneys and he swore up and down that was the problem...the doctor thought as a possibility diverticulosis (sp?) He still complains of pain in the lumbar region on his left side, and he has had his appendix and gallbladder removed. Does anyone have any advice? It is not kidney stones....

Has he had a back x-ray? Could be a disk problem causing pain. If the doctors feel it may be diverticulitis, a CT scan may give more answers. A colonoscopy would then be in order.
