My BMI is 20. I have some small amount of pudge on my belly but nothing exciting. Problem is that when I wake up my belly is nicely tucked in and flat, but within a couple of hours my gut is hanging out like I'm pregnant. I did have two abdominal surgeries that might have weakened my abdominal wall. I suppose that this would be akin to the post-childbirth state as well where the muscles of the lower abdomen become weak. I am also very narrow so the gut has nowhere to displace except anteriorly, and my belly ends up looking like a cylinder.

Anyone else encounter this phenomenon? Will lower abdominal exercises help?
