I am getting ready to relocate back to Melbourne from the outback for a new position in my company (well, hopefully, job offer pending.......but it's looking very promising and I am quietly very confident I'm moving soon...YEAH!!!) and one of the things I'm most excited about is being ABLE to walk everywhere. My new job will be within walking distance of both home and uni campus--opposite directions though, a few miles bewteen the 2 furthest points. Certain days could be 20-miles-by-foot days, if you factor in all the incidental walking that will come with the job. Goal is 20,000 steps a day minimum. I already get 12,000-14,000 almost every day.

I refuse to buy a car for this move; it's just not necessary. Between walking and using public transport (when necessary, like in bad weather) I will increase my purposeful activity (not big on exercise for exercise sake) AND save money! Win-win.

Oh and there is a uni-based farmers market, or something, on weekends, so fresh seasonal produce!
