You choose one, or the other.
Exactly.

Overweight people are destined to be miserable the rest of their lives: Either fat and miserable or hungry and miserable. Either way, they're miserable.

Also untrue. You don't have to be hungry to maintain a healthy weight. You don't have to deprive yourself of your favorite things either. Moderation. A lot of people lose their taste for fast food, sugar, and junk once they get used to eating healthy and see how much better they feel.

Just a word of advice to those who are dieting, thin feels better than good tastes. I have noticed that stopping half way through your meal is a great way of controlling portions. Your never as hungry after you stop eating.

But I have another question, Do you think it is the flavor of fatty foods that people crave more or do you think it's the texture? Also, do all humans crave to this flavor/texture equally?
Very interesting article on fat cravings. Genetic Or Not, A Human Craving For Fat Is Increasing - Chicago Tribune

I know I have struggled with keeping weight under control my whole life and have found that nothing will satisfy my cravings except something high fat - nuts, sauces, sour cream, mayo, cheese, ice cream, bacon, fried whatever - you name it. Info in the above article really makes sense to me. I think it is great that some people can eat that stuff and remain slim....unfortunately I am not one of them.

Do you dare to imply that people are different?

Charles, I'm not sure what you're doing on the diet and weight loss forum honestly. People come here for support and advice, not to be told they are genetically predisposed to like fatty foods so they might as well give up and be miserable forever. Processed food is a new development. How can we be genetically predisposed to like Cheetos and hot fudge sauce which are both man made? Losing weight and maintaining a healthy life style isn't always easy, but is worth it and it is doable for almost anyone. Your BODY does NOT need processed junk. It is your mind that wants those things, not your body. Your body wants you to eat natural food.

Well, if you are a complete pessimistic downer that would be true.

I now have to watch what I eat, and I'm not miserable. I like looking nice, so it's worth it.

Some people who are fat are happy with that, it doesn't bother them in the least.

So you can choose to be happy, or choose to be miserable.
