For some reason I noticed I had been extremely sleepy all day at work and when I arrived home from work the only thing that I wanted to do was sleep.
For the life of me, I could not figure out why. One day, I said I'm cutting back on the carbs and protein and boy, did it make a huge difference. My energy is better than ever.
Need more info.
Was this after one day? You may get energy from removing a burden, such as digesting food(but this won't last since you need food. It takes 1400 calories just to stay alive; 2400++ for ENERgy)
Or maybe you're sensitive to gluten.
So try going non-gluten, but still eat carbs: rice, quinoa, corn, potatoes, and you'll sustain high energy....
....as long as you keep it low-fat, since carbs and fat get in each other's way.
The reason not to go high-fat is (well I just put up videos about flaws on a Low-carb forum:

So if you're not eating carbs and protein, what are you eating? Isn't fat the only thing that's left?
There is a book titled Eat Fat, Lose Fat...I don't own it, but I've read this info. And saturated fats are not the killer many think...take coconut oil for example. A good saturated fat. I use it for everything.
Also, if one eats carbs do that late in day and one can sleep better. I think I'm breaking down and baking a WF's pizza but later in day.

I have been doing a cycle of the keto-diet for the last 3 or 4 months......it is a pretty great and healthy way to eat. Cutting back on carbs and protein......I assume the OP is eating quite a bit more fat.
It is actually kinda hard to find very fatty foods that don't have a lot of crud added to them.
Meat is now so trimmed-down, much of the pork looks like it is mostly protein.
Food that is too heavy and starchy for me can make me sluggish. Could be it does not have nutrients that would fuel energy and is just too heavy, body is taking a long time to digest it, so all energy is diverted into digestion. also just like you eat a huge Thanksgiving dinner, and the chemicals in turkey relax you, so some food can have that relaxing affect - either mentally or nutritionally.
