This is why I believe the BEST thing about this Paleo diet is the fact that it does restrict processed foods and refined sugar.
Agree 100%. If all people did was get rid of the processed "food" and food additives, they would probably feel better. If all they did was eat at home 99% of the time they would feel better. Shoot, just getting rid of sodas and/or sugar substitutes would do wonders for most people.
Because of health reasons for over the last 10 years I have eaten something fairly similar to the Paleolithic diet, only stricter in some ways, and it is sustainable if you are willing to forgo eating out. Other than eating at home more, I think the hardest hurdle for most people is to adjust to thinking of meals as complete without bread or pasta. I personally feel you are better off not trying to find faux bread or other faux grain based foods, but for some it seems to help.

Since I test very allergic to dairy and have to avoid it 100% and I test almost as high for wheat, I guess I've been eating nearly paleo for quite a while.
Although I don't care much for meat or fish I do have to eat it. I also eat lots of vegetables and I enjoy a fruit smoothie almost every afternoon. I haven't eaten processed foods in years except in cases of emergency--like in a New England snowstorm when I keep some frozen grocery store foods on hand.
I make almond flour in the Vitamix and you can make pretty good cookies with it (adding coconut oil and maple syrup or honey.) In other words, you're not really suffering.
Paleolithic people, as I understand it, lived before the advent of gardening and animal husbandry. They were the hunter-gatherers. They relied on whatever fruits, berries, leaves, roots, and whatever else they happened to come upon and whatever animals they could kill. Once people learned how to grow plants and harvest the bounty, they tended to stay in one place, forming the first villages and later, the cities. Those of us who have to eat even a little bit like that today sure have it easier!
Some benefits of paleo diet are that you would be eating 'cleaner' that means you wont be ingesting pesticide laden or processed food
Also foods like fruits, vegetables, oils and nuts can offer many nutrients which help to combat inflammation. You will also feel fuller for longer because of your intake of fats and protein, so you may lose some weight as well.
