Low carbs = high fat and/or high protein

(High fat and/or high protein)when coming from animal products = increased risk of cancer.

Pretty much everything everyone in the world encounters = increased risk of cancer. When God decides it's your time, it's your time.

Since I will probably die of something anyway, I'd rather take a chance on a life without tofurkey and quinoa.

Why bother with losing weight then if you are not concerned about your health risks? I mean, why not just eat anything and everything? You're going to die sometime anyway, right?

Nonsense.
And yes a lot of things we do and eat can cause cancer, but why not try and avoid them? I not only want to live to a nice ripe old age, I want to do it being healthy and active.

Here's an article that cuts through the hysteria about red meat.

Stop panicking about cancer risk from processed and red meat, experts say

You should also note that most people who eat a low carb diet do not eat a diet of exclusively red meat.

Animal products raise the risk of a variety of cancers, not just red meat.

Most people who eat "low carb" increase their intake of animal products.

Not to nit pick, but I am one of those low carb eaters, and I would not say I have increased my meat intake, but only the frequency. I am eating the same amount of meat as I always did, but just eliminating the carbs that went along with it.

^^^I can only speak for myself but I never really liked breads, pasta or sweets anyway. I have not increased my intake of animal products. I eat the same amount of meat as I did before going low carb. I have always enjoyed meats and cheese. I eliminated grain products and since I don't get nutrients and fiber from grains I have to compensate with vegetables.

Why is low carb in quotes? When I changed my diet to low carb I simply eliminated most of the carbs I was eating along with the animal products I was already eating. An example is that I used to eat a burger with a bun and fries. Now I go to the same restaurant and eat a burger without the bun or fries and I add a vegetable. That isn't an increase in intake of animal products. It is a decrease in carbs. Although the percentage of calories coming from animal products increases, it increases because of a reduction in total calories not because of an absolute increase in the intake of animal products.
