I am surprised that you havent bothered to participate in this thread YOU started.
Why do you think that "healthy" food is "too damn expensive"? Here's news for you - ITS CHEAP!!! Only time it gets more expensive is if/when people start to ONLY want to buy ORGANIC or GRASS FED. You do not need to do that.
Get a couple of boxes of Trader Joes frozen brown rice - $3.49 each
Some bananas from Ralphs
Box of Cuties from Ralphs
bag of Raw baby spinach
2 packs of 3 - chunk light tuna
2 cans of kidney beans
2 cans corn
Canister of quaker oats
bag of boneless chicken breasts
Box of Raisn Bran
Head of broccoli
Almond milk
Whole grain bread
CarbMaster yogurt - 10 for $10.00 at Ralphs (less with Ralphs club card)
Raw organic Almond butter (most expensive on the list at $8.49)
Low sugar strawberry preserves
And just like that, you have more than a week's worth of breakfast, lunch, dinner AND healthy snacks for about $75.00 - $85.00. Delicious food. Doesnt break the bank. Doesnt include JUNK.
I haven't participated much because it's been more fun to watch people *****. Funny how you and others also, seem to know what groceries cost in MY area. Especially considering I have neither Ralph's nor Trader Joes in my area. As had been mentioned a couple of pages ago, I will look into these.
IMHO the cheapest diet is one that works for you, one that you can stick with, one that will be sustainable long term. Even if you find a "diet" that only costs $20/week, if you don't lose weight then it was a poor value, right?
Eat plenty of protein (meat, eggs, nuts) and non-starchy vegetables both raw and cooked. I don't personally know anyone who overeats those foods. Eat other foods too, in small amounts. These are the foods many of us find triggers over-eating like bread, potatoes, beans, corn, and other starches and grains. If there are foods you can't eat in moderation, then only eat those for an occasional treat meal.

That for sure! I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and stuff costs a lot here, but nothing in comparison to Hawaii.
It's pretty obnoxious, and produce quality is horrible. Shipping 2500 miles will do that.
We move to the mainland in 2 years, and I am eating veggies and fruits non-stop, I am inordinately excited about that.

LOL, all I did was include white rice in my list of foods, and of course that opens up the table for random debate. In fact, my initial post was on topic and I still stick by it. You can eat whatever combo of foods you like as long as you can do it for life. Or, just try to aim for smaller portions. You can train your body, just like your body was trained to eat more.

It was quite controversial wasn't it?

Yes, I've been to Hawaii and seen the prices. Definitely more expensive than mine. Still, some people here are being real *******s responding to a simple question.
I think the responses answered your question. If you are unhappy with the quality you may want to make an appointment with a nutritionist or dietitian.
