You already know your temp is too high. I once asked an RN (as they were taking my temp) did they think 98.6 would always be the standard. They told me that in their opinion, the human body would begin to become cooler, not warmer.

You are too young to be going through any change this extreme, there has to be another reason. Look into this young One. I hope you find an answer. Extreme heat is not a good thing to experience. Best of luck to you.

note: When my wife went through change of life, we used to take wet kitchen towels rung out, and then place in freezer. They froze solid. When she suffered a bout of over heat, she would then wrap a frozen (still bendable)
towel around her neck. It instantly cooled her down.
The OP chose a condo that is on an upper floor, no curtains allowed, west facing. I don’t know how any health exam is going to solve that problem. It was a poor purchase choice.

I live in a high rise condo apartment downtown, corner unit, with floor to ceiling glass on the South and West sides, on an upper floor. There's no AC.

Property management won't allow any modifications to the windows (not even solar film), no window AC allowed, the windows aren't designed to accommodate curtains (meaning no blackout shades)...

I'm dying already, and it's only spring. RIP me when it's summer.

That's why I'm wondering if, for my own survival, I should lose as much weight as possible?

I'm 5'10 and 133 lbs right now, with an average body temperature of 99.8 (it's always been like that, doctors have ruled out health issues).

At what BMI were you when you noticed feeling colder more easily? I swear to god I'm not joking. I'll go on a crash diet if it'll help me survive the summer, but I don't want to go on a diet and look like a stick insect for nothing if my plan is unlikely to work.

And yes, I have lost my mind.

They don't allow window unit, but you can buy a portable AC unit. Google it. They are out there and they work. Similar to a portable heater.

Why you live in a unit like that is beyond me...it screams "summer time oven"

The portable ones still have to vent to outdoors.

Ask them then. If enough tenants are having issues with basic climate control in their apartments, you might have a better case with the landlord to adjust the rules.

Some people naturally get cold easily, some people get quiet greasy and hot very easily.

I'm kinda on both sides and I guess I am not fat or super-thin, maybe 15% bodyfat. I get cold quite easily and when it gets around 70+ degrees, I start getting pretty warm. At 80 degrees, yes, then I am getting hot, sweaty and smelly.......kinda sucks.

Get a portable AC-unit, it will help.

I only rent, thankfully. Once this lease is almost up, I'll see if any better apartments are available. It's usually slim pickings though, since we have a dog and my husband's allergic to carpet.

I'm thin (though I don't look like a stick insect), and I don't feel any colder than anyone else. We don't have AC either, and during the rare hot temps we get in summer, I put a container of ice in front of a fan. Works fine.

Sorry you lost your mind. I miss mine too.

How warm/cold one feels is individual and while it's related somewhat to BMI it seems more related to body composition.

Having a good deal of muscle causes one to feel warmer since muscle increases metabolism.

Less muscle mass will generally cause one to feel cold sooner.

Prior to my change of life, I weighed 102 lbs (5'3" tall). I didn't diet or try to be that thin; fast metabolisms run in my family and we stay pretty small until the menopause hits

I worked out lifting weights a lot and would get hot easily despite having such a low BMI (under 18). After I stopped working out so much with weights, I noticed my cold tolerance went WAY down. I live in a cold climate so that wasn't a good thing.

Based on your height/weight, you are already on the thin side and losing weight won't necessarily help you cool down.

Your best bet is to pick up a portable cooling unit that doesn't require venting. They are available but are not super-cheap; they run $300-$500. You could go with one lower end and at least use it in your room so you can sleep.

Also consider using a fan at the foot of your bed at night; it really helps out as well.

Sorry you have this hot situation. I hate being hot...

Thanks for this, I will definitely try that tip. I did get checked out, and I'm healthy as a horse, albeit an overheated one.

If I've been like this all my life, I can't even imagine what menopause would be like. I think I'd just need to move to Greenland altogether. lol
