If you're worried about oxylate crystals and don't want to change your diet, bump up your calcium levels. Calcium binds to oxylates and helps keep them from being absorbed in your intestines. Also be sure to drink plenty of liquids.

Some of us are "stone formers." The rest of us aren't. Most of those who are prone to kidney stones have a genetic predisposition to not make enough of a certain protein that helps us to super-saturate our urine with certain substances, like Calcium oxalate (80% of stones).

If you're not a stone former, you need not worry about your diet-- you'll just never make stones. If you are a stone former, you can lose sleep and worry yourself silly about diet, or you can just drink plenty of water to keep your urine dilute.

Most things we eat or drink do not cause conditions, but they can contribute to us developing whatever. You advise is right on; if you do form stones easily of course pay attention to your diet and the drink water can not be preached enough. But way to many worry way too much about what they do or do not eat and drink. As many have said, "in moderation" this goes for whatever we put in our mouths.
