I June 2018 I stepped on a scale and it showed 320lbs. I decided I had to do something drastic or I'd be in serious trouble.

A week later I started the keto diet. Cut out all breads, pasta, refined sugars and other cheap carbs and processed foods. I quickly dropped the pounds. In the first three months I dropped closed to 40lbs. Then I plateaued. I was stuck at that weight for a month or so, but I kept at it. I broke through and dropped another 20-30lbs. Then I plateaued again. It went like this for a while. The weight came off slower, but it was still coming off.

Fast forward to yesterday. I stepped on my bathroom scale and it registered 220lbs! I wanted to reach it before the year anniversary, but it took a little longer than that. Still, I feel better than I have in 15 years! I want to drop another 40-50lbs and get down to where I should be for my size (5'8").

Most importantly is that I've learned self control and portion control. I won't be buying crap like potato chips or other junk foods, those cravings are long gone. I know what's good for me and what isn't now too.

Anyhow, some of the posts here have helped me on this journey. Someone always had some advice that helped me to keep going. I just want to give a big thank you to all your crazy posters here for helping in your own ways.

Wow - that's an amazing accomplishment and I'm so happy for you! It takes hard work and dedication to lose 100 pounds in a year. Just be aware that weight loss can slow down over time, as you now have less to lose. But you've broken through several plateaus, so you are already familiar with that concept.

Great job, and keep up the very good work!

Congratulations — I’ll bet your knees are thanking you every day! My low-Carb regime helped me drop 75 pounds over two years and I honestly think it saved my life. Joint problems, high blood pressure, shortness of breath, apnea, all went away with the excess weight.

People who haven’t seen me in a while will ask how I did it, and I’ve decided not to proselytize. It is a lifestyle change and most will not understand that crucial part. Again, welcome to the club of folks freed from the tyranny of sugar.

That's outstanding! My son and DIL are doing this diet and have lost 36 and 40 lbs respectively and son has about 20 left while DIL still needs to lose about 40 lbs.

I didn't have as much weight to lose as you but had diabetes and about 45-50 lbs of gut fat I needed to lose and followed a diet recommended in The Plant Paradox which has allowed me to lose all of my excess weight, get my A1C in check without meds, perfect BP, BMI, and all blood numbers are now excellent and weren't before I started. Now I have 11.7% bodyfat and 44.6% muslce mass which is incredibly fantastic.

Congrats!! Getting those cravings stopped is huge. Some lucky people don't get them.

100 lbs is a lot!
I lost some weight just by going low carb, but I hit a plateau and never broke thru.
I think it was because even though I wasn't eating many carbs, I was still having to use insulin daily.

When I started IF, the days of no insulin use began. I noticed right away that I lost most of my weight on those days.
I don't think I'll have any issues maintaining a weight in the 170's if I continue to have no-insulin days every week.

So happy for you!! Good for you. That's a very substantial achievement.

You can do pretty much anything when you can do that. Wish you were on the vegan team. We could use you.

I could do it if I didn't have to be on a low carb diet.
Veggie "meat" has gotten a lot better.
