I do. And even if a moderate drinker occasionally has one too many it still does not make them a drunk.

Same here. I drink my two glasses of wine with dinner every day; as I have for the past 25 years or so. I am never drunk. And I also have lost plenty of weight while still enjoying my wine.

The biggest problem with alcohol for people trying to lose is that 1) it opens your appetite while also making you care less how much and what you eat. 2) it interferes with your metabolism, as the body puts #1 priority on getting rid of the alcohol. So it's not so much the "carbs" per se, but other factors. You definitely will lose more easily if you cut out most of the alcohol. One more thing: beer is very carb packed; and I believe probably the worst alcohol to consume when trying to lose weight. I don't drink beer, but if I have even a bottle or two, I blow right up!
