I've completely reframed my mindset from losing weight as a goal to engaging in sustainable healthy behaviors. They're not always the same thing, and I'm much happier focusing on positive changes over an arbitrary number on the scale.
IME the busier I am the less I worry my head about the whole weight loss/control thing. What if anything I do actively think about is eating more carefully so I can keep fueling that busyness. Consequently, the weight comes off! It isn't a matter of more or less motivation.

For me, it is being tired. My schedule revolved around everyone else's schedule. I was up early, had to fit in whatever was going on that day and then not get to bed until everyone was back home. i fit in meals as i could. I didn't have energy. Things have changed and I am out of excuses. I get enough sleep now and have plenty of time to do what i need.
1. food prep. healthy eating means more time: shopping, cooking. cleaning.
2. healthy restaurant food is SO MUCH more expensive than anything else.
3. right now, pollen. i do not like to run through clouds of yellow "baby-powder".
What kills my motivation to lose weight? Here's what kills it: making an actual effort to intentionally come up with things that kill my motivation to lose weight. It's very demotivating. The more things you can think of, the more demotivated you get.
I recommend - not doing that.
