The malamute I grew up with shed BALES of thick, cottony tufts of undercoat 1-2 times a year. It was seriously addictive, and could be pulled out by the fistful. She always loved it.
My German Shepard has these clumps too, but when we try to comb them out or pluck them out she tries to get away and doesn't like it at all!!! Is there something wrong?

Probably not. You may be accidentally pulling her hair. With a GSD it is essential that you brush them regularly to get the dead undercoat out. It's more comfortable for the dog and means less hair in the house.
This is the best thing I've found to use on my GSDs coats.
My German Shepard mix recently has the same problem going on but it's only February Should I be concerned? This Weekend the temperatures did get into the 70's though.

Sometimes an abrupt and major change in temperature triggers heavier shedding, especially in double coated dogs that blow their coats seasonally. Check your other thread about this.
