Last night I noticed a bump on Lanie's front leg (where her "wrist" joint is), so we got a vet appointment this afternoon. We had x-rays, and it could be arthritis or a type of cancer of the joint (as soon as I heard carcinoma I couldn't focus ). The x-rays are being sent to a radiologist, and we should know something in a week.

I'm hoping and praying it's only arthritis. She's only about 8, and she's been through so much in life.

Thoughts and prayers. Try not to borrow trouble before there is a definitive diagnosis. Easier said than done, I know.

Thanks guys. DH and I haven't really said anything to anyone yet. I can't talk about without crying. I think the vet might have actually said sarcoma, but I was just in shock.

Lanie is not limping at all, and demanded a walk today. The vet said it's ok to take her on walks, just shorten them. I had meetings during the day, so DH worked from home to keep an eye on her. She's jumping on and off the bed and sofa, and is putting full weight on the leg. We're just trying to stay home as much as possible and keep an eye on her to make sure she isn't in pain.

We just adopted her last August, and she went through surgeries and was on antibiotics off an on through the beginning of February. We thought she was finally healthy, and now this. We just want her to be happy, because she's had such a crappy life.

I'll update when we get news, but the radiologist opinion won't come until the end of next week. Beds make her very happy, and her old one is kind of lumpy, so we're going to get her the Rolls Royce of beds tomorrow. She'll like that

Here's a pic of her enjoying her "cousin" the Mastiff's bed at grandma's house:

Lanie is such a cutie! She certainly doesn't have a crappy life anymore with that big ole smile on her face. Keeping fingers and paws crossed that it will only be good news coming next week.

I'm very confused--have we gotten confirmation that it is indeed cancer?

I hope not. I went through this with my GSD a few months ago. Fortunately, though, it turned out to be arthritis. But, yes, in the 6 hours it took to get the results of the x-rays, I was looking up everything that it might be (and unneccessarily freaking myself out in the process).

I am hoping that your's is a similar situation with the same happy-you-worked-yourself-up-over-nothing outcome; hang in there ((hugs))
