Someone dumped this sweet girl out in the woods. Now that she's been cleaned, fed, and de-ticked, I'd like to have an idea as to what kind of dog she is.
The vet just said shepherd mix. She's roughly 3 or 4 months old and only weighs about 10 lbs (that, of course, will change as she is fed as she should be).
Do any of you have any ideas as to what breed(s) she could be?
I can see the shepard and this is just a guess because of the coloring maybe a border collie. She looks awful sweet. That is so kind of you to take her in are you going to keep her?
At first glance, I would just say shepherd mix but if pushed to choose a secondary breed, I'd thought husky (and that was before I saw the others saying that!).
Thanks for your opinions! She is very sweet and shy, but she's clearly been around people before. I can't imagine how or why anyone would ever dump an animal, especially this young, to fend for itself.
Yes, I do plan to keep her as long as all animal babies continue to get along.

That is how we got our first dog - they found her wandering on a busy street at about 8 weeks old. I have a hard time believing that she just got out of the house she was at. She was also extremely fearful with Men at first so I think those fit together somehow.
There is a BYB of Boston Terriers near us that routinely abandons their dogs when they get too old to breed or something is wrong with them. Yet, there is nothing we can do about it but continue to rescue all the dogs they abandon and find homes for them. The worst part is that this couple works for our local agency that licenses puppymills and breeders yet they have no license and deny that they breed anything.
There are a ton of horrible people out there that feel that animals can be abandoned and that somehow that is okay.
