About 10 years ago I owned a toy shop in Atlanta, Every year we would go up to NYC for Toy Fair, the big toy industry annual show. It is always the same time as WESTMINSTER and we always stayed at the Hotel Pennsylvania which is right across the street from madison Square Garden. Many folks in the dog show stay there too.
We always enjoyed seeing the great variety of dogs in the hotel lobby and on the streets being walked. Nowhere else could we see so many different kinds of dogs.
It got to he point we realized we were excited to go to NYC in Feb not for Toy Fair but for Westminster. One year we only spent about 2 hours at Toy Fair and the rest of our 3 days at Westminster and in the fabric district where I would go crazy.
So much fun. Now when I see Westminster on TV it brings great memories of our stays up there.
I remember back in the nineties when a magnificent Doberman won best of show. I was so happy that my Doberman-loving Dad got to see that before he passed, which he did soon after that show.
