I have had Collies [rough & smooth], Shelties, Cockers, Min Pins, Rotties, Dobies & Shepherds Not to mention Lots of mutts. My present dog is a Pembroke Welch Corgi. So what kind of dogs have you had?
I have owned a Chocolate Lab, a Fox Hound, a Cocker Spaniel, a Black Lab, a Rhodesian Ridgeback/ Rottweiler mix, two Mini Schnauzers and right now my husband and I own three American Pit Bull Terriers. Brooklyn, our 1 year 2 month old, brindle male, Destiny, our 6 month old, white and tan female and Jayda, our 7 1/2 month old, black and white female. I have to say, our APBTs have by far, been the best dogs all around that I have ever owned! They are so unbelievably smart, obedient, loyal, determined, tolerant, sweet, gentle, loving, goofy and almost human like in how they act and what they do! My husband and I have just fallen head over heels for this breed and I can't see myself ever owning another breed! They bring so much joy and happiness to our lives every single day and they always keep us laughing! I love all animals, especially dogs, but APBTs are hands down, my favorite breed!
Here are our babies.. Brooklyn is the brindle, Jayda is the black and white and Destiny is the white and tan.
I've had 2 mutts, 1 German Shepherd and 1 Jack Russle Terrier. Love all dogs, but German Shepherd's are my favorite. Too bad people can use them the wrong way like Pit Bulls.
I grew up with dachsunds. In my adult life, I have had a deaf Dalmation, a black lab/ husky mix, an Australian Shepherd/ Chow mix, and a Jackabee. We still have our sweet old Aussie Chow and our spoiled puppy Jackabee. What am I saying--they are both spoiled rotten, and we are very well-trained owners.
My husband and I had an American Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler) we loved dearly until her premature death from a brain tumor. My husband was very closely bonded with Ginny. After a long period of grieving, he decided another ACD needed a good home, so we got a Red Heeler cross from the local shelter. Emily is one in a million. I am always amazed at how quickly these dogs pick up on things, even if you don't teach it to them. I once read that ACD, being herders, will categorize you as a sheep or the shepherd, and respond accordingly. That is SO true! If they don't respect you, they will run circles around you. They are a great dog IF you understand them, otherwise their cleverness and energy will drive you crazy.
