I'm curious as to whether anyone has purchased and used pet insurance.

My vet accepts and recommends Embrace pet insurance. From the research I've done so far it seems like a decent idea. Essentially pays 80% of the vet bill less a variable deductible depending on the plan purchased. Annual maximum is $10,000. Monthly premium would be $29.

It seems like a good idea to me as it would allow treatment when personal finances might otherwise preclude it.

Any feedback positive or negative would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I've thought about it but never done it. I'd also like to hear stories from people who have found this a real net cost saver in the medical care of their pets. Overall my dogs were pretty healthy until their late years when terminal illness took hold. Maybe I would have saved $$ in the long run had I utilized pet insurance.

I canceled my policy for my 14 year old about 2 years ago and my 8 year old just this year. Seemed like when I really needed it, it was of no help. Worked out much better to put the money I would have paid for insurance aside each month and if I needed it it was there.

I've heard this more often than not with pet insurance. Can't give you any specifics right now, but I have heard quite a few times that the insurance plan didn't offer what was needed at the time. And these were people who were paying 50-60 dollars a month for it.

I was paying almost $100 a month for my 14 year old and $30 for my 8 year old. After spending $500 at the eye specialist, having insurance telling me it was pre existing when it wasnt and appealing it twice I had had enough. So in my opinion, not worth it

Thanks, I appreciate the responses.

I've heard a number of similar comments. Several positives as well. It definitely seems like the bad outweighs the good at this point.

Hi all,
Pet insurance is always worth to have. As it is important to be aware of your pet's pre-existing medical conditions. And it will be profitable to take insurance at the early age of your pet. You must be aware of each and every points in your policy. So that you can be very clear about the policies which covers the medical conditions.
