I've just read this "In Memory" piece and thought some of you may also want to read In Memoriam: Mr. Basset 1992-2011 « The Greenroom

He was a rescued dog and the story is quite lovely.

I think we've all had that one extra-special pet. So sad his life started out the way it did, and wonderful that he had so many years where he was loved and appreciated.

I particularly loved the part about the younger, smaller dog learning to 'sing'. I'm more of a cat person than dog person, but did just love this story.

I am partial to Basset Hounds. My Sam was a Basset mix. A sweeter dog never was. He loved kids and rides in the car. The happiest time of my life was the 13 years I had him in my life. It was like he died, and everything changed. He kept it all together. Some pets are extra special.
