MF with the weimie puppy told me last night he bought the Hartz flea and tick drops to put on her. I told him not to use it because I seem to remember there was a problem with using them on cats.

Being a new pet owner he is just not aware of the dangers with some products.

I think I used it many years ago- no side effects, in fact, no effects in general. It didn't really work. I always use Frontline Plus now, and that works great here in NJ. I'm moving to FL on Friday, and I've heard that it doesn't work as good there, his grandma said she has more success with interceptor, and that also prevents heartworm.

I think you are referring to Sentinel since Interceptor is only for heartworms and other worms, not fleas or ticks. I used Frontline Plus in FL and it worked just fine for me but you are still going to need to get a heartworm preventative if you use Frontline. Not sure where in FL you are moving but in Tampa, it worked just fine.
I would check with a vet in FL to see what they recommend. Depending on where in FL you may not need to put on Flea preventative all year but you will need the heartworm preventative all year.

I'm in Miami and I use the Frontline Plus on the dogs and cats (each their own of course), and I use the heartworm separately on the dogs. They all work fine -so far.

My suggestion is that you ask your vet the question and buy the product from them. I've seen a pup lose it's life when given wrong!

Ive never used Flea and Tick ointments like that as my dog gets a bath once a week (right after the kids) and I use Tarriffic shampoo which treats it. Maybe try that if youre worried.

i get frontline and it works great. I either get it from healthy pets.com or dr foster. I get maybe a 12 or 6 pack depending on price.

I find K9 Advantix to be better than Frontline. The cheapest I have found is Dr. Foster & Smith.

another good source for the frontline, et.al. is an australian site called "deadfleaz"

Great prices, same product, slightly different packaging, shipping was about $6-7 or so and i had my order within about a week.......
