I took Gator to the vet today because he was not getting better and was diagnosed with lymphoma (cancer) the vet thinks we've got about 4-6 months. He'll be on prednesone to shrink the swollen lymph nodes and keep him comfortable.

I just wish I wasn't so poor right now, I'd be plying him full of all of his fave treats. He will die fat, for years it's been a struggle to keep him at weight because he THINKS he's starving and deserves AT THE VERY LEAST a 2nd breakfast if not 3rds. So for the next months he'll get what ever I can provide.

Gator and I've had a very good run, I've had him for 11 years and he was around 4 when I got him as a rescue, he's been a real heart dog and a great companion...don't get me wrong he's does have his issues but he's a wonderful atypical JRT non-agressive and laid back...yup you read that right laid back...an oxymoron for a JRT...LOL.

So I've had some really good cries today and I'm sure I'll have more, but at least I've got some time to say good by.

ReturningWest... I'm so sorry.

Spoil your gator as much as you can. I'd be doing the same thing you are doing.
Spend as much time with your Gator & give him kisses & hugs all the time.
You've got wonderful memories with your Gator, nothing can ever take that away from you.

I'm sorry about Gator. And don't be sorry about what you can't give him, he'll be happy with your love and whatever you provide.

Awwwww......so sorry. My dogs love turkey franks. A steal at 99 cents a package of 8. They also love mini-shredded wheats. Big box of generic/store brand is under $2.00. These will be lovely months for Gator. Being spoiled rotten, loved every moment, and not knowing the end is near.....wish we could all have that kind of ending!

I'm so sorry about Gator. Our Belgian shepherd Zoe died of cancer in April. It's so hard to have to say goodbye to our beloved pets. Spoil him with love. He will love the pampering.

I don't know you on here but wanted to offer my sympathy to you. Sorry to hear about your dog, Gator. I'm sure he will enjoy his last months being truly spoiled.
