My male Frenchie, Wolfgang, has to get his trot on before he can poop. He walks the entire fence line, at a good trot, and once he finds the perfect place, he stops to look at me until I sing his potty song..."you gotta poop Wolfgang, you gotta poop...you gotta poop Wolfgang, you gotta poop."
When he's finished, he tears like a mad dog all around the yard, comes back for a drink and looks at me with a big, proud smile on his face.
Yes, I'm his poop cheerleader. LOL

Your dogs need to live in Montana, where dogs go outside, squat, and run back in the house, ASAP. They don't turn around, sniff, or nothing in the winter here, especially when it is below 0, and the wind is blowing. Soft dogs, down south, just don't know how to take care of business.

I notice also mine goes in circles trying to find the right spot to poo or doesn't want to do it all in one spot. It isn't a complete circle. Maybe the reason is the dog is trying to move around so it will come out. Gross, but seems true.

My dog needs to walk a bit before pooping. And he has to find the right spot.

i thought walking our two acres was enough for a 16lb. mix! and its hot enough down here a person cant breath and you can literally stick to the ground as the shoe rubber melts!

Our male dog also does the "poop waddle" a little before he actually poos. then instead of doing it all in one pile, he waddles as he's pooping, I guess to spread it around. Our female dog just assumes the position, with no complications.
With our cats, the only ones that have had neurotic poop issues have been the boys as well.
Come to think of it, even in humans, males seem to have a "poop ritual" while woman just get it over with. Who's more likely to gather reading material first, and then take a long time in the bathroom? Men. Don't deny it.
As women, no one sees us "prepare" ahead of time, or have to wonder what we're doing in there so long. No one is even the wiser.
So dogs don't seem to be much different in that regard.

odd.
all my dogs also do the circles on the beds behaviour though where they have to turn around 60 bllion times before they find the most comfortable spot to lay down...lol.

I have three purebred male poop dancers.
Bichon, Maltese, Shih Tzu- all purebred, all three spin around in circles before the poop..
lol. When you see them spinning it is a good signal to snatch them up and run for the door (unless you want a messy floor )
