Do you think hugging and kissing your dog frequently damages them psychologically in any way? It's such good therapy for humans though. My doggie loves to be loved on, but I'm wondering if I'm making him unnecessarily dependent.

Here's a recent pic of my Coltrane with his Christmas scarf. It's not my fault - he's irresistible!

Naw, they seem to like the attention. My problem is I have six dogs and I have time constraints trying to give them all the attention they desire.....

Nanners is an affection sponge, too much is never enough. I'm told she howls (from inside the house) when I leave for the store, so maybe I've overdone it.

I say "no."

Hang on. Let me ask Artie.

He says "no" also.

Keep doing what you're doing.

PS. Coltrane is gorgeous and has an awesome pawsome name.

Yes...you can addict a dog to human touch. We have this old Beagle who was so cute as a puppy that it was constantly stroked -coddled and kissed...Now the dog is 10 years old...You so much as touch it and the thing literally melts. I mean it's not just a cuddle up...the thing acts as if you had just injected it with a drug...Once you touch the dog you can not get rid of her...It's my daughter's dog and she treated it as a child...It is not fair to humanize animals to fulfill some emotional lacking in yourself...Dog want to be dogs.
