I've had my mini daschund for 3 years. Around our house we have 2 crates just always sitting open in case they want to lay in them and about 4 doggie beds. One of which I've had at least two years and I wash it regularly. Two weeks ago she became obsessed with it out of the blue. She lays in it all day and night. I have to take it away just to get her to come and eat. If I put it in a room and close the door to get it away from her, she sits by the door crying until I get it. It's so strange because this is a bed she hardly ever laid in before. Any ideas?

That's a new one, one of mine tries to play tug of war w/ hers (we keep the crate door open too), she's a small dog and has plenty of toys but I guess there's something about her donut bed, lol. It's old and has been thru other small dogs, it prob. needs to be washed but I dont think that's why,go figure <G>

We got a new bed for our little pup but her and our older dog think it's a toy to fight over. He lays on it and she attacks him. I've never seen 2 dogs have more fun with something like that. It's hilarious to see him trying to lay on that tiny bed just so he can antagonize her into wrestling.

She's not hurt or sick, just being nutty. She's playing, going for walks, eating etc...It's in between when she is laying around she only wants to lay in that bed and if I pick it up she chases me.

Has anything changed in the household during the time this behavior started exhibiting itself?

We had a toy poodle that became fixated on stuffed animal and behavior is similar. The attachment was obsessive and she would clearly panic when she could not find it. She would hide it in the house before going outside.

No idea. My ones don't like the beds I bought for them, too.

It's good to make her like her bed. Or some other troubles will happen.

No, nothing has changed. In fact that same bed she hardly ever laid in before, just all of a sudden. She usually lays in the bed I have in my home office because when I'm working she lays a few feet from me.

Sounds the same, so did you figure out why?
